KUALA LUMPUR, 30 Sept: Today, Human rights activists held a protest at the compound of Parliament against the amendments to the Prevention of Crime Act (PCA) which allows for the detention of an individual without trial.

While carrying placards saying “repeal the PCA”, ” repeal draconian acts”, the group also dubbed the Act to be the Internal Security Act (ISA) 2.0.

“We do not need laws like this to prevent crime. It would be enough to provide facilities to the police to fight serious crime.

“We celebrate the repeal of the ISA. However, less than a year later, a similar act is introduced,” said the Co-Chairman of Bersih 2.0, Datuk S Ambiga, quoted from the Malaysian Insider.

After an hour, representatives of Pakatan Rakyat Members of Parliament brought the representative of the activist group to Parliament to hand over a memorandum of protest to the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
