Selangor Taps Talent in Hopes to Produce National Swimmers

KELANA JAYA, SEPT 8: Selangor is able to produce swimmers with the potential to highlighted internationally by organising sporting events such as the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Swimming Festival which is now entering its eighth year.

The Exco in charge of Tourism, Consumer Affairs and the Environment, Elizabeth Wong Keat Ping said, in order to achieve the goal, all parties should provide support to the programme organised by MBPJ and the Stingray Swimming Club.

“The organisation of this event every year can hopefully unearth new talent not only for Petaling Jaya, but for Selangor and eventually Malaysia.

The atmosphere at the MBPJ Swimming Pool was filled with the voices of 200 children and their parents who participated in the competition this time. It is understood by Selangorkini that events such as this receives encouraging response from the public each year.

“This is because swimming is a sport where Selangor and Malaysia has achieved proud success,” said Elizabeth who was invited to officiate the event at the MBPJ Swimming Pool in Kelana Jaya.

Also present was the Deputy Mayor of Petaling Jaya, Puasa Md Taib, as well as the Chairman of Stingray and MBPJ Swimming Festival, Suraya Mohd Nor.

Simultaneously with this event, the organisers also handed coupons to selected orphanages, among them the Suci Rohani Orphanage from Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.
