KUALA LUMPUR, 3 Oct: PAS has a bright chance of defending the Sungai Limau State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat in Kedah in the by-elections in the area on 4 November said PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar, who is also Leader of the Opposition said, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) will ensure that all of its machinery assists the PAS candidate in winning the election.

“God willing, we are confident (of winning) due to various issues that have currently risen, such as the increase in prices of goods, petrol and so on,” he said in a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.

The Chairman of the Election Commission (EC), Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, announced that the by-elections for the Sungai Limau DUN, Kedah, will be held on 4 November.

The nomination day has been set to be held on 23 October – giving the candidates the opportunity to campaign for 12 days, including the nomination date.

The incumbent, former Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak, died on 26 September due to health problems.

At the 13th General Election (GE-13) in May, Azizan, who is also the former Chief Minister of Kedah, obtained 13,294 votes, defeating Mohd Fazillah Mohd Ali from BN with a majority of 2,774 votes.
