SHAH ALAM, 19 Nov: Selangor continued to present a balanced budget for next year, with projected total state revenue of RM1.85 billion.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the breakdown of the projections is RM587.6 million or 31.76 percent in the form of tax revenue, RM1.67 billion (57.65 percent) for non-tax revenue and RM196 million (10.58 percent) of non-revenue receipts.

“The state government is performing some distributions which is over RM1.2 billion for management expenditure, RM624 million for development expenditure and for infrastructure, RM388,738.30.

“The distribution for development expenditure in the social sector is about RM143 million, RM90 million for the economy sector and RM2.2 million or 84.36 percent for the municipal sector which will benefit local governments.

“The rest, amounting to RM408,000, will be spent on the Pulau Ketam solid waste management,” he said.

He said this at the Selangor State Assembly 2013 when tabling the Selangor Budget 2014, themed ‘An Economic and High Impact Budget for the People’s Well-being’ at the Annex Building today.

The situation in Selangor is far different from the central government administered by Umno-BN, which tabled a deficit budget for 13 continuous years.

Abdul Khalid said that the revenue of 12 Local Authorities in Selangor reached RM1.72 billion in 2012 and is more than enough to cover the entire expenses of RM1.53 billion, equivalent to operating surplus of RM183.2 million.
