“This is evidence of the strong commitment by the state government, together with the LAs, to help other security agencies in dealing with emergencies and disasters,” he said.

Chang Khim said that the state government is more ready with flood prevention programmes which have been implemented by LAs and this preventive work has been completed well ahead of schedule, thus demonstrating the seriousness of LAs.

“LAs have implemented various flood prevention programmes such as deepening drains and flood retention ponds. Drains and ditches have also been cleared of obstructions to ensure smooth flow of water,” he said.

Simultaneously, the Selangor Government Instant Response Team (PANTAS) is always active to respond to emergency complaints.

“This squad will play a role when deployed for emergencies, including flooding. PANTAS ws set up to provide logistical support, expertise and charity in helping safety operations conducted by the police, the fire authority and agencies responsible.
