According to the Malaysiakini portal, its reporters, as well as kiniTV, who were at the D1 Complex in Putrajaya were asked to not enter the briefing and press statement by the MOHA Chief Secretary this evening on the excuse that it was the Minister’s orders

The receptionist at the MOHA lobby entrance said that the ban on Malaysiakini began since Datuk Seri Abdul Zahid Hamidi held the post.

Malaysiakini was also not allowed to cover news at the Ministry of Defence when Ahmad Zahid was administering it previously.

This is totally different from the time the position was held by Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

In fact, Malaysiakini was even allowed to cover the programme at the Ministry of Defence which was held by Hishammuddin after the general election.

Zahid, the Member of Parliament for Bagan Datoh and the Umno Vice-President, was also seen several times being ‘belligerent’ with the portal, including giving a ‘warning’ to journalist Lawrence Yong to not distort his words in a press conference two months ago.

Previously, a Malaysiakini journalist at the Chinese table was also barred from covering news at the building.
