Selangor CM Ready to Discuss Salary Increase Issue

SHAH ALAM, 9 Dec: A discussion with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Assemblymen regarding the salary increase issue recently approved by the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) will be held.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that this is following recommendations by supreme leaders of PR in Parliament which asked the state government to review the percentage of the salary increase.

4.1

He will take time to hold discussions with members of the state assembly to understand the suggestions and proposals of PR leaders.

“The salary increase has been approved by the Selangor State Assembly. Thus, we need further discussions with assemblymen,” he said.

He said this at a press conference after inaugurating the Selangor State Government Departments’ Monthly Assembly at the Silver Jubilee Hall today.

4.2

Abdul Khalid expects the discussions to be held in the next two weeks to make way for the implementation of the State Budget 2014.

So far, he said, no assemblymen from the government or the opposition has opposed the increase.

Prior to this, the PKR General Chief, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, suggested for Abdul Khalid to reconsider the salaries for elected representatives in Selangor.

This was following a meeting with the top leadership of PR, which described the increase to be relatively high despite Selangor recording an excellent economic growth.
