KUALA LUMPUR, 29 Jan: The candidate for the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will go down to the grown to personally explain to the local leaders and people regarding his participation in the area’s by-election.

The PKR de facto leader, said so far, there is no set campaign format and that he will discuss with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders regarding the matter.

He said that he suggested for minimum campaign provisions and Barisan Nasional (BN) does not need to place a candidate regarding statements of other parties on the matter of wastage.

“I have discussed and asked them to minimise campaign provisions and to use existing posters. We will use old materials and Selangor has informed that there are still existing materials and that it can be used.

“Most importantly, I will have to go to Kajang to explain this nomination,” he said in a press statement at the PKR Headquarters today.

Anwar explained that there are a lot more wastages apart from the by-elections like wasting billions of ringgit.

“Wasting billions of ringgit cannot be seen. I accept that point of view and that is why our first response if there is wastage is for BN to not place a candidate.

“Tok Guru Nik Aziz has said that; do not place a candidate if the area is considered to be PR’s stronghold. If it is considered a waste, cost should be reduced,” he said.

Meanwhile, the PAS Vice President, Mohamad Sabu, said that PAS, from the point of PR, does not have any problems with who is nominated by PKR since the seat belongs to the party.

When asked about the views of some PS leaders who questioned the decision, Mohamad Sabu explained that each party can express personal views and the action is respected because it is in line with the principles of democracy.
