PAS Not Excited to be ‘Under the Same Roof’ with Umno, Najib’s Leadership ‘Venomous’

SHAH ALAM, 24 Jan: PAS guaranteed to not join with Barisan Nasional (BN) in forming a ‘government of national reconciliation’ because they felt that a joint strategy with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is most effective.

The PAS Vice-President, Salahuddin Ayub, said that the Islamic party has never been excited to ‘sit under the same roof’ with BN because they deemed that coalition led by Datuk Seri Najib Razak is full of ‘venomous poison’ despite his ‘sweet’ appearance.

He said that Malaysians who fully support PR do not have to worry because PAS will not be easily enticed by Umno’s agendas or offers.

“I also think that it is unnecessary for PAS, DAP or PKR to terminate close cooperation with PR because this is the best time for us to build a stronger partnership.

“PAS has not even once planned to foster partnership with BN or to leave from the strong existing ties.

“However, in questions concerning the interests of the country such as welfare or education, we are ready to lend a hand,” he said in a special interview with Roketkini recently.

Meanwhile, when commenting on specific strategies by PR in facing the 14th General Election (GE14), Salahuddin said that a special committee has been formed as the foundation to reinforce existing strengths.

He said that the committee is to focus and work on support from Malays from rural areas where the percentages in supporting PR is still low.

“It is important to be the foundation on how we should develop new strategies or ideas in facing the next general election.

“We want to strengthen, streamline and save existing strengths, as well as find ways to go beyond the ‘grey area’ and ‘black area’,” he said.
