The Penang Religious Exco Praises Selangor for Implementing Secondary KAFA

SHAH ALAM, 23 Jan: Selangor’s efforts to empower Muslims through Religious and Fardu Ain Classes (KAFA) education for secondary education have been praised by the Penang Religious Affairs Executive Councillor, Datuk Abdul Malik Kassim.

Although the effort is slightly different in Penang, Abdul Malik said that it was a noble approach and it is something to be proud of.

“The implementation of Secondary KAFA Schools in Selangor is among the branches of how the strength of Muslims can be generated.

“It should be praised, and in fact if it is capable, it is possible that it will be emulated by other state governments,” he told Selangor Kini yesterday.

Starting this year, the Selangor Government is mobilising KAFA learning at the Secondary level in nine existing Religious Primary Schools (Sekolah Rendah Agama – SRA).

The pilot project is in line with the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat manifesto during the 13th General Election (GE13) of wanting to establish Secondary KAFA schools across the state.

The establishment of Secondary KAFA Schools is to provide alternative education opportunities to students who did not have the opportunity to attend religious secondary schools in the state or in the federal territory.

The decision was taken due to the high demand for religious secondary schools, which at present is lacking in Selangor.

Abdul Malik said that if the demand comes up in Penang, he will strive to meet the demand.
