Tian Chua Visits Prison Detainees, ‘Cattle Thief’ Released

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 Jan: It is a felony for a Member of Parliament to visit detainees from the ‘Bersih 3.0 Seated Protest’ at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) as long as they are in jail, however, the ‘cattle thief’ was released, said that Secretary-General of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Datuk Saifuddin Nasution.

He slammed the one month prison sentence and a fine of RM1,000 passed by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court against the PKR Vice-President, Tian Chua.

“Tian Chua’s offence was visiting those arrested at PULAPOL. If Tian Chua had gone home, he would have been safe.

“As a Member of Parliament, he was with the people (participants) of the protest caught at the police station. It is a nature and habit for Tian Chua to be at police stations and PULAPOL to give moral support to participants who were arrested.

“But it seemed like being in a place like that is an offence,” said Saifuddin, quoted from Keadilan Daily today.

He said that Malaysia’s legal system is biased and defends huge offences made by Umno_BN leaders.

“In our country, if we steal cattle money worth RM250 million, no action will be taken. But if you visit people who have been arrested, you will be arrested,” he said.
