3 Major Dams in Selangor Sustainable

SHAH ALAM, 27 Feb: The level of raw water in three major dams in Selangor is expected to be sustainable for a period of 70 to 172 days, following the hot and dry weather that has hit the country since early this year.

The Kelang Gate Dam is able to last for 70 days, while the Sungai Langat Dam can last for 84 days and the Tasik Subang Dam can last for 172 days.

This was informed by the Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd Executive Director of Operations and Maintenance, Abd Rashid Abd Satar, quoted from the Harian Metro Online.

He also informed that they will stop the release of water from the Kelang Gate Dam to the Wangsa Maju Water Filtration Plant tomorrow.

In the meantime, the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, guaranteed that raw water supply in all major dams in the country is still sufficient so far.

However, he said that for areas experiencing crisis such as Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor, the government will continue to monitor and implement mitigation measures, in addition to channeling the right information to the public.

He said this when visiting the Kelang Gate Dam today.
