Anwar Confirmed to Contest for PKR Presidential Post

SHAH ALAM, 14 Feb: PKR secretary general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has confirmed that its de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) will be running for the post of president in the party polls which start on April 25 and end on 11 May.

“Yes, Anwar will run for that post,” Saifuddin told The Malaysian Insider, elaborating on Anwar’s previous indication that he would contest the presidential post, which is currently held by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail.

Meanwhile, PKR Election Committee chairman Datuk Johari Abdul announced that the nomination day for the central committee would be on March 29.

At the branch level, nominations will be held according to zones, beginning from April 4 to 13.

“The full results of the new line-up of PKR leadership will be revealed at the latest on May 13 after the nationwide voting ends on May 11,” he said in a press conference today.
