Anwar to meet CM regarding the dismissal of 23 PKNS employees

KAJANG, Feb 6th: Selangor Economic Advisor, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to meet with Selangor Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to seek an explanation for the dismissal of 23 PKNS (Selangor State Development Corporation) employees.

According to Anwar, the meeting will most likely take place tonight so that he may be privy to the true circumstances regarding the issue.

“I have asked Abdul Khalid to discuss and explain the issue as I do not have all the facts.”

“Maybe Abdul Khalid will hold it tonight,” he said to the media after a high tea at the Kajang Legislative Assembly Community Centre (DUN), yesterday.

1aPreviously, the media reported the termination of 23 PKNS personnel without cause and advance notice.

However, in a statement PKNS explained that the action was taken against employees on contract basis to avoid duplication of tasks.

In regards to a PAS Youth member’s refusal to have himself nominated as Chief Minister if he wins the Kajang Assembly seat in a by-election, Anwar replied that the decision will be taken by the highest level of leadership in PR.

“Procedurally, we discuss the matter at a closed meeting and usually I do not care for my position within the party which only enables me to comment that joint decisions will be the focus of the Kajang by-election,” he added.

In rebuttal of a challenge by former Padang Serai MP, Datuk S Nallakarupan who has offered himself to stand for the by-election, the PKR de facto leader only gave a cynical smile when he explained that the former MP is only interested in collecting bribes.

“Do you consider this a serious challenge? If you are laughing then that means that this is not serious and should not be attended to.”

“So close to the by-elections, more dignitaries and old accomplices are rising which are probably due to the profit from increasing election funds,” he said.
