CM: Cloud Seeding Will Be Carried Out This Week, Increase Water Levels in Dams

KLANG, 18 Feb: Cloud seeding to enhance the water capacity of dams in Selangor in certain areas, dues to the hot and dry weather, will be carried out this week.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the move will be carried out if the warm weather continues.

He said that the State Government has provided an allocation of RM300,000 to RM500,000 to carry out this initiative.

“We are still monitoring the dams. If necessary, we will carry out the cloud seeding process.

“I was told that if the weather is hot this week and there is no rain, we will implement it,” he said in a press conference after the launch of the Camera Security System (CCTV) at the Hamzah Hall here at the Klang Municipal Council yesterday.

Abdul Khalid said that the State Government will cooperate with the Meteorological Department and private companies with regards to the implementation process.

“For Local Authorities, they will monitor critical areas with the Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas).

“Local Authorities will help Syabas. If Syabas does not have enough trucks to send water, Local Authorities will help,” he said.
