PUTRAJAYA, 5 Feb: The Malaysian Election Commission (EC) today announced that the election day for the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) By-Election will take place on 23 March while the nomination will be done on 11 March.

Citing the BERNAMA micro social site, the EC announced that the nomination will take place on 11 March, while early voters will vote on 19 March.

This was announced by the EC Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, after chairing a special meeting to discuss the vacant seat in the Selangor State Assembly following the sudden resignation by the Assemblyman, Lee Chin Cheh, from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) on 27 January.

During the 13th General Election, Lee won the seat with a majority of 6,824 votes in a six-corner clash involving Barisan Nasional (BN), BERJASA and three independent candidates.
