Kajang By-Election: Selangor AMK Challenges BN to Immediately Nominate a Candidate

SHAH ALAM, Feb: The Selangor Keadilan Youth (AMK) challenges Barisan Nasional (BN) to immediately nominate a candidate to contest against the Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in the Kajang by-election on 23 March.

Its leader, Azmizam Zaman Huri, said that BN’s failure to place an ideal candidate will prove that the party is only good at empty talk and is not bold enough to face Anwar in the by-election.

He said that he is confident that BN is currently struggling with the fight for the seat between Umno and MCA, even more so when both sides claimed to doubt the ability of each other.

“The Selangor AMK challenges BN to quickly nominate their candidate to prove that their allegations that PKR is no longer relevant and is rejected by the people.

“We believe that BN only knows how to give lip service, but in fact, does not dare to face Anwar because their response was very different compared to five years ago when Anwar fought in the Permatang Pauh Parliament by-election.

“BN is struggling to be champions in Kajang. However, the great response from the people of diverse communities in Kajang towards Anwar is hindering their intentions,” he said in a statement today.

Azmin said that research by UMCEDEL predicts that Anwar will win by a larger majority and this is also adding to BN’s anxiety as they often outspokenly insult Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

He said that this was based on two factors; the strength of the machinery and the people’s willingness to accept change in the administration direction in Selangor.

“Quickly nominate their (BN) candidate and not just talk, but in truth, they are afraid to face defeat again in Kajang which is a stronghold of PR.

“There is no use to just be bold in front of the media but fail to receive support from the people in the real field,” he said.
