She said that this project is expected to address the threat of flooding in Bandar Rawang, Bandr Country Homes, Kota Emerald, Kota East West, Kampung Sungai Bakau and Kampung Sungai Due.

“The Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) has approved the application to widen and upgrade Sungai Gong.

The District Office has also visited the site to identify areas that can be made into catchments during heavy rainfall,” said Pei Nei to Selangor Kini in Bandar Rawang.
Pei Nei added that the State Government requires for all development projects in the future to build monsoon drains for quicker water flow.

“Most importantly, the DID and other responsible parties have to monitor on an on-going basis to maintain the cleanliness of rivers and drains.

“It is to ensure smooth flow of water not only during rainy seasons, but also during the regular season,” she added.
