UNISEL Study: 63% of Respondents Want Abdul Khalid to Remain as Selangor CM

SHAH ALAM, 19 Mar: A study carried out by a group of researchers from the University of Selangor (Unisel) found that 63 percent of respondents in the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) want the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, to remain at the helm of Selangor.

The facts was revealed by the Principal Researcher in a Questionnaire regarding Voting Patterns and Current Issues, Dr Muhammad Shamsinor Abdul Azzis, involving 393 respondents from various backgrounds from 12 to 6 March.

Dr Muhammad Shamsinor said that only 37 percent wants the Chief Minister to be changed when posed the question whether Selangor needs a change in the Selangor leadership in the near future.

He said that respondents want Abdul Khalid to remain as the Chief Minister because of the change of candidate in the Kajang by-election.

The study involves 60.3 percent of respondents living in the Kajang DUN and 39.9 percent from outside Kajang.

The study uses a quantitative and qualitative method with the object of analysing the current perception of voters in Kajang towards Abdul Khalid’s leadership.

It also analyses the Kajang voters’ perception on current issues that can shape the voting patterns and is a continuation from the election study in Selangor during the 13th General Election (GE13).
