SHAH ALAM, 18 Apr: The Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is prepared to face any ‘possibilities’ with regards to his appeal on the five-year jail sentence in the Defamation II case.
Speaking at the Reformation 2.0 talk in Seberang Jaya, Penang, last night, the Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh said that his speech may be his last.
“This may be my last speech here,” said Anwar, quoted from Malaysia Kini.
Among others, he reminded the people about the “injustice” surrounding his case.
On 7 March, the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya found him guilty and sentenced him to five years after the appeal on his acquittal was made previously at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
The PKR leader now has ten days to file an appeal against the sentence.
He now has to find a new lawyer following the death of the lawyer representing him, Karpal Singh, who died in a tragic accident yesterday.
He also reminded the audience to continue to pray to Allah while awaiting the sentence.
He also hopes that his supporters will defend his Parliamentary seat if he disqualified following a court decision which is not in his favour.
