The Sultan Praises CM for Effectively Administering Selangor for 6 Years

SHAH ALAM, 7 Apr: His Royal Highness (Duli Yang Maha Mulia) the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, praised the State Government’s efforts of applying the value-for-money concept in its administration for six consecutive years.

The Sultan said that the adoption of this concept ensures that state spending is done with integrity and prudence, and it allows the State Government to present a balanced budget for six consecutive years.

Sultan Sharafuddin said that with a balanced budget, the State Government does not need to borrow from the Federal Government for management expenditure.

“The State Government has established a Special Committee to oversee the expenditure of Departments or Agencies to adhere to the ethics of usage and expenditure of funds that have been agreed upon.

“This effort clearly shows that My Government is earnestly implementing the principle of transparency and prudence,” said the Sultan during his speech at the Opening Ceremony of the Second Session of the 13th Selangor State Assembly Session Meeting for 2014.

At the same time, the Sultan also expressed pride in Selangor’s economic achievement which continues to be the main contributor in Malaysia’s economy at 23 percent.

“Overall, Selangor’s economic development which is encouraging, especially through the services sector, has contributed 56.4 percent to Selangor GDP.

“The services sector is expected to continue to be Selangor’s economic driver with trade-related activities, as well as to strengthen investment, technology and professionals to increase contribution to the state’s GDP,” said the Sultan.

Selangor’s economic development is also driven by the manufacturing sector, representing 37.4 percent of the state’s GDP, followed by the construction sector at 4. percent, the agricultural sector at 1.6 percent, and the mining and quarry sector of 0.1 percent.
