Mahathir feels that something bad will happen to Umno?

KUALA LUMPUR, 21 May: It was quite strange when Tun Mahathir Mohamad joined in to speak about the emergence of the DAP candidate representing Pakatan Rakyat (PR), Dyana Sofya, in the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election.

For blogger Abu Hassan Adam, it is normal for leaders and statesman like Mahathir to be not so bothered about PKR, especially when the candidate is a young candidate.

“And it certainly is not ‘fit’ for Tun Mahathir to interfere in such matters,” wrote Abu Hassan on his blog.

Quoted from Harakah Daily, he said that the young people are starting to question why Mahathir is ‘behaving’ in such a way, by giving rather scathing comments to ‘Umno parents’ who seem to have ‘brought up their child wrongly’, so much so that they are prepared to ‘rebel’ against the party, as done by Dyana.

“It is like Tun Mahathir is worried about Dyana’s presence in the Teluk Intan by-election and he feels that something bad is going to happen to Umno soon,” he said.

The Teluk Intan by-election is being held following the death of Seah Leong Peng from DAP, who died at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) of cancer on May1.

In the 13th General Election (GE13), Leong Peng received 27,399 votes, winning by a majority of 7,313 votes, defeating the Barisan Nasional candidate, Datuk Mah Siew Keong, from Gerakan, who received 20,086 votes, while K.Moralingam (independent) received 279 votes.
