Change of MP requires letters of approval from 3 party leaders of PR

KAJANG, July 25: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that changing him out of the Chief Minister’s position requires approval letters from the three top leaders of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and it must be submitted to the Sultan of Selangor.

He said that this was done when he was first appointed as Chief Minister for the first time in 2008 and in 2013.

“When it was proposed for me to be appointed Chief Minister in 2008, I was asked by the Sultan to carry three letters from PR, not one letter.

“Each letter was signed by the President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), the President of PAS and the DAP Secretary General.

“After the 13th General Election (GE13), I also went before the Sultan and he received the appointment made when he received the three separate letters; a letter from the PAS President, one from the PKR President and one from the DAP Secretary General.

“What I want to point out is that the appointment of Chief Minister is not done by only one party, but three parties in PR. When combined, then it becomes PR and leads the Selangor State Assembly (DNS),” he said.

Abdul Khalid Ibrahim also reiterated his statement that the replacement and appointment of Chief Minister has to comply with the State Government Constitution laws.

2.2

The PR Leadership council received a proposal from PKR to change the Chief Minister in Selangor, and subsequently nominated Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on July 23.

The decision was done during a meeting held at the Opposition Leader’s Office in Parliament.

The PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said that PAS and DAP will respectively meet to discuss the matter after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
