KUALA LUMPUR, 23 July: The special parliamentary session today presented the motion to discuss the attack against the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Boeing-777 aircraft, MH17, which was shot down in Ukraine last Thursday.
This motion was tabled by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
“This honourable house urges for a thorough investigation to be conducted by an independent body on the tragedy and urges everyone to cooperate to ensure that the investigation can be completed quickly.
“This august house also demands that a comprehensive investigation be carried out so that those believed to be responsible for this crime against humanity through the shooting down of flight MH17 are immediately brought to justice,” he said in the House of Representatives.
Earlier, the House Spreker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, expressed condolences to the families of the MH17 victims who were killed in the incident and the House also took a minute of silence.
The MH17 aircraft which was carrying 298 passengers, including 15 crew members, left Amsterdam at 12.15pm (Dutch time) last Thursday and was scheduled to arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 6.10am (Malaysian time) on Friday.
The Boeing 777 aircraft was believed to have been shot down, but so far, no party has claimed responsibility.
