RM5.5 million allocated for 284 People’s Religious Schools, improve infrastructure & learning

SHAH ALAM, 7 July: A total of RM5.5 million has been allocated by the Selangor Government to 284 People’s Religious Schools (SARs) in the state to improve the quality of learning in a holistic manner.

The Executive Councillor in charge of Education, Higher Learning and Human Capital Development, Dr Halimah Ali, said that the first phase of assistance is to help the schools that have never been taken care off during the reign of Barisan Nasional (BN), or even by the Federal Government.

She said that despite being in the most prosperous state, the atmosphere and facilities at most of these schools are very sad and that it is uncomfortable for the students’ use.

“After looking at the condition of the schools, we agreed to provide some assistance so that they are more comfortable, like other schools.

“We want the teaching and learning environment at SARs to be done holistically, and that is why we have created this assistance, so that the learning process covers all aspects,” she said after presenting the Educational Provisions to SARs in Selangor at the Silver Jubilee Hall today.

Halimah said that so far, a total of RM38.5 million has been approved by the State Government, since 2009, to be distributed to SARs.

She said that any school interested in receiving assistance can apply online at the official Selangor Government portal.

“Every year, the State Government allocates RM6 million to schools for this type of assistance, since 2009.

“We have announced that the form is available at the Selangor Government portal, in addition to informing Assemblymen and Community Service Centres to ask SARs to apply for this provision,” she added.
