CM: PKNS effort of instilling the culture of transparency & integrity should be emulated

SHAH ALAM, 19 Aug: The State Government commended the efforts of its subsidiary company, the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), for instilling the culture of transparency, integrity and corruption-free in its administration, in line with the vision set by Selangor.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that he was impressed with the emphasis of corporate governance in PKNS’s administration through the Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) with any party that wants to work with the company.

He said comprehensive efforts should be planned as best possible while suggesting that it should be undertaken by other government organisations to ensure that the culture of integrity can be applied more widely.

“In support of PKNS’s efforts in implementing integrity, the State Government also wants to encourage more organisations and government agencies, especially in Selangor, to enforce the Corporate Integrity System.

“For the State Government itself, we have implemented this system under the Department of Human Resources which reports directly to the State Government Secretary’s Office,” he said.

Abdul Khalid said this when inaugurating the PKNS Annual Integrity Conference at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) today.

The annual event featured speakers from within and outside the country, including the National Key Result Areas (NKRA) Director, Datuk Hisham Nordin; the Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Datuk Mustafar Ali.

Elaborating, Abdul Khalid said that the implementation of transparent governance will provide a good impression on the corporate performance of an organisation for the long and short term.

He said that companies that support good governance will have a real competitive advantage, enhance their image and reputation, and be able to attract and retain a quality workforce.

“It also provides an advantage to the return of money and increase the management of risks effectively, in addition to reducing long-term costs and provide greater traction to the institution in ensuring a sustainable economic development,” he added.
