CM: Sacking of PKR & DAP Exco received Sultan’s consent

SHAH ALAM, 13 Aug: The dismissal of all Exco members form PKR and DAP with immediate effect yesterday is valid and received the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the Sultan of Selangor consented to revoke the appointment of all the Exco involved on his advice in writing.

He said that the State Executive Council (MMKN) has also held meetings as usual with sufficient quorum; four Exco members and three ex-officio officers consisting of the State Government Secretary, the Finance Officer and the State Legal Officer.

“This move is in compliance with the State Constitution which requires at least four Exco members to govern the state legally.

“We feel that five Exco members cannot resume their duties after issuing a statement to not be with the Chief Minister, to only attend the MMKN and to comply with party requirements.

“The statement if conflicting with the 10 pledges and oaths taken when they were sworn in as members of the State Executive Council,” he said in a press statement after chairing the Exco meeting at the State Secretariat Building today.

In the meantime, Abdul Khalid has also urged the people to not be confused with the situation in Selangor because all action taken is lawful and in accordance with the existing provisions.

“The people need to remain calm as the government administration is running as usual,” he said.

Yesterday, Abdul Khalid sacked all PKR and DAP Exco members who disagreed with being on his team in administering Selangor.

He said that all letters sent to the five Exco members; three from DAP and two from PKR, are effective immediately.

However, Abdul Khalid said that he has not written a letter to Rodziah Ismail because she is overseas.

Prior to this, the six Exco members had issued a joint statement to remain in their positions but do not want to meet with Abdul Khalid to work together, except during official Exco meetings.
