SHAH ALAM, 20 Aug: PKR will host the Annual National Congress 2014 for three days starting August 22 with over 3,00 delegates and observers.
The congress is expected to be packed with a variety of agendas arranged by party members and it will be held at the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam.
The unveiling will begin with the AMK Congress, which will be held at the MBSA Banquet Hall on Friday, and it will be inaugurated by the party’s Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali.
On Saturday, August 23, the congress will start with a speech by the Secretary-General, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and will be followed by a keynote address by the PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who will then open the congress.
The programme will continue with the election for the post of Standing Committee Chairman, Deputy Standing Committee Chairman, and the election of two accounts examiners.
According to the Congress Director, Abdul Hadi Suhaimi, all invited observers, representatives of foreign embassies from various countries, representatives of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are invited to attend.
“A total of 800 observers from 1,500 have confirmed their attendance so far.
“All foreign diplomats, especially from the United Kingdom, Germany, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Langka, India and countries that practice a democratic system are invited to attend and 10 of them have confirmed their attendance.
“For NGOs, the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) has also confirmed their attendance and will be represented by National Laureate Datuk A Samad Said, as well as the Malaysian Muslim Youth Movement (Abim) and the National Felda Settler’s Children’s Association (Anak),” he said, quoted from Keadilan Daily.
In addition to the keynote address from the President, the congress this time will also debate on current issues from within and outside the country, such as the MH17 and MH370 issue, the Sabah security issue and the oppression of Muslims in Gaza.
