CM Issue: Have confidence in the Sultan of Selangor

SHAH ALAM, 10 Sept: Everyone has been asked to place full confidence in the wisdom of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, regarding the appointment of the new Chief Minister of Selangor and hope that it can be resolved amicably.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that he has been advised to provide space to the Sultan and not issue any statements because it can confuse the people.

“I have been advised to provide space and effort to the Sultan, through the state Palace office, to carry this out in an orderly and organised way.

“In my opinion, the wisdom and patience of HRH the Sultan should be trusted in and I hope that this matter will be resolved amicably and prioritises the interests of the people of Selangor,” he said during a press conference after chairing the Executive Council meeting today.

When asked about who ordered him to not issue any statements on the issue of the position of Chief Minister, Abdul Khalid said that it was advise from the Palace, his friends who are not interested in politics and his family.

In the meantime, he also said that the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister of Selangor this Friday is pure speculation and should not be trusted.

“Anything that is done follows certain processes and it is common tradition in Selangor to have a written invitation from the Palace to invite people to witness the ceremony.

“There is no need to speculate about this matter,” he said.
