KLANG, 27 Oct: The state government has allocated Rm6.7 million to the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) to carry out the cleaning of bulk waste throughout the region for three months, starting November.
The President of MPK, Datuk Mohammad Yacob, said that they will fully utilise the allocation to realise the desire to be a clean Royal City.
“Thanks to the state government for the funds and MPK will improve the services of bulk waste management,” he said.
He said this during a visit with the Exco of Local Government, Legalising Illegal Factories and New Village Development, Ean Yong Hian Wah, to several locations of illegal waste in the region under his supervision today.
He said that apart from facing financial problems, MPK has always faced the attitude of the residents, especially foreigners, who are less aware of taking care of cleanliness.
Therefore, he hopes that the public will play their role in being more responsible and join MPK to restore Klang from being polluted.
“The region under our supervision is big; in fact bigger than Singapore. And certainly to manage an area this large is a huge challenge for us.
“MPK faces the attitude of foreigners, which is a big group here. They are less aware of cleanliness and like to throw waste at will,” he said.
