31 dengue epidemic localities in Kuala Langat, residents should be alert

BANTING, 18 Nov: 36 dengue epidemic localities have been declared in Kuala Langat throughout the year, with 13 cases reported in Taman Delima throughout 2014.

The President of MDKL, Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali, said that the “Visit and Destroy Aedes” effort will be continued in six areas selected by the District Health Office, based on needs.

He said among the localities with the highest number of dengue cases are Taman Aman, Taman Setia Jaya, Taman Seri Putra, Taman Yayasan, Taman Indah Jaya and Taman Cempaka.

“We also went to residents’ houses to distribute leaflets on Aedes mosquitoes and distributed mosquito larvae pesticides,” he said.

Mohd Azhar said that advice was also given to the residents so that they can be more responsible in maintaining the cleanliness of their homes and their surroundings.

He said that the responsibility to prevent dengue is not just in the hands of the local authority or MDKL.

“All parties, regardless of position or occupation, can play their role in ensuring the quality of environmental hygiene is always in good condition and the surroundings are not polluted,” he said.

He said this during the launch of the “Visit and Destroy Aedes” operation for the Kuala Langat District organised by MDKL in Taman Delima.

Statistics show that as many as 658 dengue cases have been reported in Kuala Langat since January 2014 until the 45th epid, which ended on November 8.
