CM: Reparation of apartment roofs damaged by storm carried out immediately

SHAH ALAM, 10 Nov: The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, hopes that the residents of Pangsapuri Taman Permai Indah in Pandamaran, Klang, will be patient and understand that the process of repairing the damaged roofs will take some time because it involves a large scope.

He said that allegations that the state government is practicing discrimination in helping repair damaged roofs in the storm on October 21 is not true.

He said that the state government has approved disaster assistance of RM880,000 for roof reparation work a day after the incident happened.

“The reparation scope is wide and required several technical departments to review the appropriateness of work that needs to be carried out,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after the Selangor State Government Departments Monthly Assembly at the SUK Building, today.

Mohamed Azmin said that he is aware of the urgent need because the reparation work involves two phases; the replacement of the water tank and roof.

“It is just that before we solve the roof problem, they have other problems like a water tank that needs to be replaced.

“We do not want a situation where when the roof is repaired; it needs to be reopened to repair the water tank.

“The water tank is also being fully funded by the state government, which costs almost RM400,000. That is why we have to replace the water tank and then only replace the roof,” explained Mohamed Azmin.
