SHAH ALAM, 5 Nov: Village Chiefs and all members of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) have been urged to emulate the work practices of the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The Exco for Local Government, Legalising of Illegal Factories and New Village Development, Ean Yong Hian Wah, said that village chiefs in particular should conduct fieldwork and survey the problems in their areas.

He said with this, each problem should be solved at a faster pace.

“Our new Chief Minister has placed a high benchmark where he wants 80 percent of time on the field, 20 percent in the office.

“This standard should not only be followed by the Exco members, representatives of the people and council members, but also village chiefs and JKKKs,” he said in front of over 200 attendees.

He said this during the Special GST Session and Dinner with the JKKK of new villages, quays and organised villages at the Shah Alam Convention Centre here last night.

Also present was State Exco members, Dr Daroyah Alwi and Zaidy Abdul Tabli, and members of the state legislative assembly, including Lau Weng San (Kampung Tunku) and Tiew Way Keng (Teratai), as well as the Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya Utara, Tony Pua.

At the same time, Ean Yong wants each village chief to set their visions and missions in formulating the development of the areas under them.

“Usually, they think that being a village chief is an easy task, so it is difficult for them to accept this challenge.

“But they have to realise that they are also at the front line of the state government.

“They each reflect the existing state government,” he said during the media conference.
