BERSIH 2.0 demands investigation of claims that judge commented on a news site

SHAH ALAM, 5 Nov: The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (BERSIH 2.0) has demanded for the trial of Major Zaidi Ahmad to be suspended until an investigation is carried out into allegations that a judge involved made a comment on a news site on the case.

The BERSIH 2.0 Media & Communications Secretariat Officer, Chuah Siew Eng, said that the comment was in reply to a report published on October 20, after the court heard the arguments of both parties.

“The Convening Authority should take the matter seriously. If the investigation finds that there was indeed a comment issued by a convening judge, it means that there has already been a judgement earlier on in this trial,” Chuah said in a media statement.

Chuah said that the Convening Authority should dismiss the Military Court immediately for the sake of justice.

She said that BERSIH 2.0 urges the Malaysian Armed Forces Council to drop all charges against Major Zaidi and free him immediately.

“The post Major Zaidy previously held should also be returned to him,” Chuah said.
