State government provides over RM1 million for storm victims of Pandamaran

PANDAMARAN, 2 Nov: The Selangor government channelled disaster provisions and contributions to four placement areas that became victims of the storm that happened on October 21.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, presented the assistance and announced that the cost to repair the housing to the residents of Kampung Pandamaran, Kampung Pandamaran Jaya, Flat Pandamaran Permai Indah and Pandamaran Jaya PKNS Flat.

The storm saw 40 housing units at Kampung Pandamaran and Kampung Pandamaran Jaya being damaged while three of the four Pandamaran Permai Indah Flats (7 units) and the Pandamaran Jaya PKNS Flat (42 units) experienced roof damages.

Mohamed Azmin said that the Selangor government, through the Selangor Housing and Peoperty Board (LPHS), has agreed to bear the reparation costs for the damages at the Pandamaran Permai Indah Flat with provisions amounting almost RM1.149 million.

This cost includes repairing four water tanks at the flat block which is damaged and not functional.

“The Selangor government has agreed to repair the roofs of the three blocks at the Pandamaran Permai Indah Flat. Although they have a JMB, they informed that they do not have financial provisions to repair all three blocks.

“After being evaluated by LPHS, the cost to repair the roof is RM800,000. Due to sympathy for the owners and residents who are mostly earning low incomes, the state government has agreed to bear the reparation costs.

“The cost to repair the water tanks that are damaged and not functioning amounts to RM349,000. The state government, through LPHS, will bear the cost to repair the water tanks,” he said at the Storm Contribution Presentation Ceremony in Pandamaran Jaya.

The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has born the reparation works which have started at the Pandamaran Jaya PKNS Flat at a cost of RM80,000.

Apart from that, through the Caring Government programme managed by Selangor Exco V.Ganabatirau, the Selangor government also gave consolation contributions involving repairing the wooden framework and replacing the roofs for 40 houses at Kampung Baru Pandamaran and Kampung Pandamaran Jaya according to the level of damage.

The residents of the Pandamaran Jaya PKNS Flat and the Pandamaran Permai Indah Flat also received disaster contributions of RM500 per person.

“The Klang District and Land Office has evaluated and divided it into three categories.

“If the house has experienced terrible damages where the framework of the house roofs have come off and lost, the family will receive RM2,000.

“Partial damages will receive RM1,000 and small damages will receive RM500,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Selangor government has also instructed the Klang District and Land Office, together with the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS), to rebuild the Pandamaran Fisherman’s Jetty in Sungai Aur at a cost of over RM30,000.

The Klang Municipal Council has also been given special provisions of RM73,000 for cleaning up the debris, waste, cutting and cutting trees that have fallen during the storm.
