Assemblymen agrees in salary cut, difference of opinion on the compensation of 8 former MBI employees

SHAH ALAM, 2 Dec: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Barisan Nasional (BN) Assemblymen agreed with the Selangor government’s move to reduce the salaries of the Chief Minister, Exco, Speaker and Deputy Speaker which was approved during the Selangor State Assembly session yesterday.

Hasbullah Mohd Ridzwan (PAS-Gombak Setia) said that in general and principle, he supports the Administrative Member’s Allowance and Retirement Bill submitted by the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali.

“We think that it is appropriate and reasonable because the prior increase receive negative views and comments.

“I think that this move is made in a timely manner,” he told Selangor Kini today.

For Kamarol Zaki Abdul Malik (BN-Sungai Air Tawar), although he thinks that the salaries of Assemblymen are currently still low, he agrees with the salary cut for the top positions in the state government.

“The matter has been discussed since the last conference, but I think that the reduction is consistent with the current situation,” he said.

Touching on the matter of the RM2.6 million compensation distributed to the eight former employees of Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), Hasbullah hopes that the case will be investigated as best possible at the level of the new Chief Minister’s administration.

“I think that it should be investigated thoroughly and appropriately because this matter is very shocking to various parties regarding the justification and a reward that large.

“We have to give room for investigation and if necessary, take action, but it should be done properly,” he said.

However, a different opinion was presented by Kamarol Zaki who assumes that the state government is not transparent and gave different statements regarding the integrity and transparency of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim before the Chief Minister crisis happened.
