Selangor BN sends humanitarian mission to help flood victims

SHAH ALAM, 25 Dec: A humanitarian mission has been launched by the Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) to provide assistance to the flood victims affected in several states in the East Coast and the Northern Peninsula.

Sungai Burong Assemblyman Datuk Mohd Shamsudin Lias said that a humanitarian mission that was mobilised over a week ago will also be joined by Selangor BN Assemblymen.

“This flooding is fate and we sympathise with the victims. We pray that the flood will not last long and those involved will be safely protected.

“The Selangor BN’s assistance is already there with Umno Malaysia and also state Umno liaisons. Our Assemblyman, Datuk Rosni Sohar, has already been there for two weeks managing assistance for flood victims,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini today.

He said that among the assistance provided include basic necessities such as food, helping the safety team manage the temporary shelters, blankets and so on.

Shamsudin also advised the residents living in areas at risk of flooding to be more vigilant and to be ready to follow instructions to evacuate as instructed by the National Security Council because of the heavy rain still going on in the states involved.

Earlier, the flood was reported to be worsening in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perlis and Perak, with a record number of victims having to evacuate continuing to increase.
