Azmin confident that Anwar will be released, asks to stop ‘gutter politics’

SHAH ALAM, 28 Jan: The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, is confident that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be acquitted of charges in the ‘defamation case 2’ on February 10.

Mohamed Azmin said that his confidence is based on the facts and evidence presented in court which clearly shows that the Opposition Leader was defamed.

“Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) stance is clear that based on the evidence and arguments presented in court, we are confident that he will be freed from this disgusting defamation,” said Mohamed Azmin after launching the Lambaian Kaabah programme at the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque in Bukit Jelutong today.

He explained that the people and politicians of this country need to unite by dirty politics to ensure that the country continues to move forward.

“This dirty and disgusting political defamation which was started by Tun Dr Mahathir from 1998 must be stopped if we want this country to move forward.

“Stop gutter politics, stop defamation, stop disintegration, but let us unite to develop the people for us to be united in facing the economic challenges in 2015,” he added.

The Justice Department announced on Twitter today that the decision for the ‘Defamation 2’ case, which involves Anwar, will be announced on February 10 (Tuesday) at 9.00 am.

The decision of the appeal case, which involves Anwar’s former aide, Saiful Bukhari Azlan, will be announced by the panel of five judges, led by Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria.
