CM ensures that the 23 PHSB staff receives justice

SHAH ALAM, 12 Jan: The state government has never been irresponsible and taken lightly the complaints of former employees of PKNS Holdings Sdn Bhd (PHSB) who were sacked in February 2014.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that he will ensure that the PKNS subsidiary company’s staff receives justice.

He said that the matter has already been extended in the PKNS Board of Directors’ meeting so that the dismissal process involving the 23 employees of PHSB is reviewed.

“The management of PKNS needs to look into the dismissal process done at the time and I was also one of the victims.

“If the dismissal has unjust elements, I ask for justice to be given to those involved,” he said.

He said this when met after the Darjah Kerabat Selangor Yang Amat Dihormati (D.K.) presentation ceremony to the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at the Bukit Kayangan Palace.

Previously, the former employees of PHSB expressed agitation with the light attitude taken by Mohamed Azmin, who allegedly failed to defend their fate.

The former representative of PHSB staff, Datuk Seri Dr Alif Aiman Abdullah, said that they have sent a letter three times to the Chief Minister’s office, but no action was taken and they were also not called to meet.

When asked whether PKNS will rehire the individuals involved, Azmin said that it entirely depends on the management of PKNS after they complete reviewing the dismissal process.

“It depends on them (PKNS management) on whether the dismissal conformed to the right principles and considerations.

“I have reminded the board members that they have to be fair to the employees and public servants involved,” he said.

Last February 4, the media reported that 23 contractual staff of PKNS received the 24 hours’ notice of dismissal, with immediate effect.

One of the staff said that they received the notice of dismissal without reasonable grounds, at about 8 in the morning the same day.

Prior to this, the Selangor State Government Secretary, Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi, said that some of the PHSB employees who had their contracts terminated have returned to work at the state government-owned company.

He said that the decision was made after reviewing the report submitted by PKNS previously.
