PETALING JAYA, 12 Jan: Excited to start school, a Standard 1 student from Sekolah Kebangsaan Damansara Damai 2, Muhammad Amirul Syazwan, woke his parents up from their sleep at 5.00 in the morning.

His mother, Siti Maheran Mat Jusoh, 31, said that Muhammad Syazwan’s antics caused her to be excited to send her eldest son to school.

“He was very excited and could not wait to go to school, so much so that he woke us at 5.00 in the morning. So far, thank God, he has not cried or kicked up a fuss.

“For school preparation, I prepared it early although the registration was done a little late due to being stranded in the floods when we were at our village in Gua Musang recently,” she said when met by Selangor Kini today.

Meanwhile, military personnel Mohd Hanif Omar, 32, who also sent his eldest child for the start of school today, said that the increase in family expenses to cover the cost of schooling did not prevent him from preparing for school earlier.

“This is my first child; of course I am excited. For the preparation, I did it much earlier.

“Certainly, expenditure had increased, but it is alright for the sake of my child’s future. I hope he studies hard,” he said.

Homemaker, Normariah Saleh, 37, said that this year is her fourth experience.

“All my children are already in school, and this year it is the youngest, who is a little spoiled.

“When all the children are in school, expenditure feels like it has increased, but schooling must be prioritised,” she said.

The school session in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and several other states began today after being postponed due to the floods.
