New mayor committed to solve waste issue in Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM, 8 Dec: The new mayor of Shah Alam, Datuk Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saadakan, is prioritising and placing emphasis in resolving the waste issue in this city.

Ahmad Zaharin, who will be sworn in on January 14, said that among the issues that he will prioritise, other than the waste issue, are in relation to drainage and landscape under the administration of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).

“These are among the few issues that I will give priority to because they are closely related to the interests of the people in Shah Alam.

“Environmental beauty is also important for the comfort of the residents and that is why landscape will also being emphasised on,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini.

He said that the detailed steps to overcome these issues will be announced shortly after he is sworn in.

Ahmad Zaharin was the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) Director before being appointed as the mayor of Shah Alam, replacing Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan, who retired on November 1 last year.

State Government Secretary (SUK) Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi, in his announcement, said that the appointment of Ahmad Zaharin came into effect on January 2 and the seat of the JAIS Director will be filled by Datuk Haris Kasim, who was previously the Hulu Langat District Officer.
