PKR Women launch petition to demand BR1M for housewives

SHAH ALAM, 1 Jan: The PKR Women launched a nationwide petition to demand the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) scheme by the Federal Government to be distributed to housewives in conjunction with the 2015 New Year.

The PKR Women Chief, Zuraida Kamaruddin, said that giving this assistance is necessary as women play a major role in making decisions on household expenditure.

She said that PKR Women also intend to recruit more women to join the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component party.

“It is hoped that with the increased participation of women in politics, it will represent the voices of 52 percent of women voters in this country.

“I want to emphasise that although there are many things that need to be implemented, PKR Women pledge to continue upholding women’s agenda; quota of 30 percent to be amended and incorporated in the party constitution this year,” she said in the New Year’s message.

At the same time, she also offered her condolences to almost 250,000 people affected by the floods and the family members and friends of passengers and crew of the AirAsia QZ8501 flight.

Commenting on disaster, the Ampang MP also urged the Federal Government to be more serious and responsible.

“The government should provide assistance and welfare to the flood victims in Malaysia who need help and not too busy themselves by playing golf or repackaging goods for flood victims by pasting BN logos and taking photographs for the sake of publicity.

“A good government is caring by placing the interests of the people first. PR will try to give Malaysia a better government,” she said.
