Overall, a total of RM3,040,450 was allocated for non-Islamic houses of worship that were divided between 170 temples and Buddhist Associations, 82 Hindu temples and 43 churches.

The largest allocation worth RM50,000 was given to the Leong Hua See Temple in the Klang district, while the lowest amount given was RM2,500.

Commenting on the amount of provisions, Chang Kim said that the RM50,000 is the ceiling level for any houses of worship in need of assistance.

“Usually, the RM50,000 are for houses of worship that are being rebuilt according to the prescribed criteria.

“Their application involves the reconstruction of dilapidated houses of worship in need of reparation.

“For the RM2,500 allocation, it is a contribution for celebrations. This is a minimum contribution for them,” he told Selangor Kini.

For 2015, the Selangor government has allocated RM6 million for non-Islamic houses of worship.
