Anwar continues to receive international support

SHAH ALAM, 9 Feb: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim continues to receive international support 24 hours prior to the announcement of the Federal Court’s decision on the Defamation II case.

The Mayor of Manila, Joseph E. Estrada, described the prosecution against the PKR de facto leader as political injustice.

Estrada described his as a victim and believes that he is innocent.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt support to former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as he goes through another challenging time in his life and career.

“I have full confidence in the innocence of Anwar in this case, not only because he is my friend, but because I know him to be a respected leader and a very decent man.

“I believe that Anwar is a victim of political injustice, as he has been the plight of many a great leader who fought for changes towards democracy in their country,” said the former President of the Philippines in a press statement.

Estrada, through the press statement, also hoped for Anwar’s acquittal and hopes to see the day Anwar will lead Malaysia again.

Prior to that, Islamic scholar Sheikh Rashid al-Ghannushi reportedly also prayed for Anwar’s wellbeing.
