Kidex: Central government needs to focus on people’s problems, not add to the burden

SHAH ALAM, 17 Feb: The central government should emulate the state government which is more sensitive towards the people’s problems, especially in this poor economic climate.

PKR Central Leadership Council Member, Azmizam Zaman Huri, said that the burden is forced to be returned to the people in cases such as highway construction when they have to pay the toll when the project built involves very high costs.

He said that most people on social networking sites support and congratulated the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, for making a wise decision in cancelling the Kidex project in favour of them.

“This proves that PKR did not agree for the highway to be built because it would burden the people.

“The PK R manifesto, especially in the orange book, is that if PR was given the opportunity to take over the administration of Putrajaya in the last election, we will eliminate all existing tolls in Malaysia,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini.

He supported the move by the state government of setting certain conditions for every highway project to be built, like the on the Kidex developer.

“It is well aware that the people objected to it from the beginning of the plan to build this Kidex highway.

“We support the decision of the Chief Minister in cancelling the project after the developer failed to produce the conditions asked by the state government.

“The Kidex issue has nothing to do with toppling Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, but it shows Mohamed Azmin’s firmness compared to the previous administration,” he said.
