SHAH ALAM, 16 Mar: The Selangor government, through the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is collaborating with Maybank to help homebuyers of Taman Selayang Mutiara to obtain loans.

This collaboration facilitates 139 homebuyers that previously faced problems obtaining bank loans to buy the houses there.

The Exco for Infrastructure, Public Amenities and Agro-based Indistries, Zaidy Abdul Talib, said that the state government will act as the guarantor for the residents.

“In terms of the property value there, it is high. Meanwhile, they only have to take out a loan of RM170,000 with assets reaching a value of almost RM400,000.

“That is why we do not have a problem to do it; so why can’t this problem be solved,” he told Selangor Kini.

He explained that so far no residents have refused to take out loans while the property values have increased and will become their permanent asset.

“So far, we do not actually encourage it from the point of squatters who have been offered to surrender it. Previously, PKNS offered it to anyone interested to take out a loan which can be transferred back to PKNS.

“The excess money will be handed over to them. But from the point of property, the value is already high, so it is for their sake we are asking to continue it.

“Thank God among the remaining 139 people, not one refused to take out a loan,” he said.

Today, all of them were taken by two buses to the Shah Alam Maybank branch to submit their loan applications.

Zaidy, also the Taman Templer Assemblyman, spent time reviewing the loan application process which lasted for two days from March 16 to 17, 2015.

On February 24, he and the residents held a thanksgiving ceremony and presentation of loan offers at Taman Selayang Mutiara to the original inhabitants, formerly known as the Bukit Botak Squatters, Selayang.
