Appoint a project manager to monitor work to overcome flooding

SHAH ALAM, 31 Mar: A project manager should be specifically appointed to monitor works to overcome flooding in Selangor, in addition to strengthening cooperation between all agencies.

Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Kajang) said that the proposal is among the early preparations that can be done to prevent major flooding in the future.

In addition, cooperation between local authorities and government agencies should be improved to facilitate the coordination of managing the flood issue.

“With this, no party will be be irresponsible or avoid their responsibilities in ensuring that the provisions issued by the state government are used as best possible for the comfort of the people,” she said when debating the Sultan of Selangor’s decree.

She explained that the flooding problems are also closely related to waste management, especially in Kajang.

“The average of waste generated by the Selangor of Selangor is seven thousand metric tonnes each day, making Selangor the state that produces the most waste.

“Remember, disorganised waste management also leads to flash floods,” she added.

In the meantime, she also thanked the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) which has provided good commitment each time floods occur.
