Sultan: Transportation Master Plan able to address congestion & pollution

SHAH ALAM, 30 Mar: The Selangor Public Transportation System Master Plan is able to provide facilities and transportation alternatives that are cheaper, more efficient and safer, as well as to reduce the use of private vehicles to reduce carbon emissions.

The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, said that the Selangor State Structure Plan 2035 can target the ratio of public transport to private vehicles at a rate of 60:40.

When touching on the Migration programme which aims to help people who are below the poverty line, he said that the programme is able to increase the household income of the poor so that they are grouped under the middle-income group.

“My government has started to implement the Migration Programme to help those below the poverty line by elevating this group so that they can leave the poverty level.

“I understand that 1,169 people from the first batch of the Migration Programme received their respective cheques on March 24 through the Selangor Microcredit Scheme (SkimSel) and the Urban Poor Microcredit Programme (MiMBAR) with an allocation of RM100 million,” said the Sultan.

The Sultan hopes that the Migration Programme can help the group involve themselves in entrepreneurship and to increase their household income, as well as enter the middle-income group.
