Take the case of the 13 participants of the peaceful gathering to the Federal Court

SHAH ALAM, 18 Mar: The decision of the RM5,000 fine and 10 months in prison against 13 passengers of the peaceful gathering by the Putrajaya Court of Appeal today needs to be reviewed and forwarded to the Federal Court.

The Joint Coordinator of the Perak Malaysia Youth Solidarity (SAMM), Zulfadhli A’dil, said that this is because the people’s right to gather is protected in Article 10 of the Federal Constitution.

“The Perak SAMM also calls on all parties, especially parties in Pakatan Rakyat, to give considerable attention to this case.

“They also need to be concerned about the welfare of those fighting to uphold true democracy during the power crisis in Perak in February 2009,” said Zulfadhli in a press statement.

He said that 13 were detained during the peaceful rally to oppose the appointment of the Perak Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, after the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government was toppled in 2009, as the people’s manifestation from the evident coup by the governing regime.
