Make the environment green, over 80,000 trees targeted to be planted around Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM, 27 Apr: It has been targeted for 80,000 trees to be planted by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) around the city of Shah Alam.

The Public Relations Director, Shahrin Ahmad, said that 1,500 saplings were successfully planted in the park in conjunction with the Shah Alam Trees For Life 2015 programme for the second time in 2015 at Persiaran Kuala Selangor, Section 26, Shah Alam, on April 25.

“Three kinds of saplings were planted; Cassia Biflora, Bucida Molinetti, Syzigium Oleana and Euginia.

“MBSA also encourages corporate bodies and private companies who want to carry out their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to participate in this programme,” he said in a press statement.

Shahrin said that over 300 young volunteers from public and private institutes of learning were involved in the programme.

“This included the Mara University of Technology (UiTM), Sunway College, the University of Malaya and the Eco Warriors non-governmental organisation (NGO).

“Indirectly, it is able to instil love for the environment, especially in the younger generation,” he said.
